A poet in songwriter’s clothing – 79 years young and still singing.
Born in Westmount, Montreal, Quebec Canada on 21st September 1934 (three months before Elvis) where he grew up. He is 5ft 8ins, hazel-eyed, a Lithuanian Jewish musician, singer/songwriter, novelist and poet. His mother emigrated to Canada from Lithuania and his great grandfather emigrated from Poland. His grandfather, Lyon, was the founding president of the Canadian Jewish Congress. His father, Nathan, who owned a reasonably sized clothing shop in Montreal, died when he was nine. He went to Westmount High School in 1948 where he studied music, poetry, learnt the guitar (acoustic and then classical) and started a country folk group called the Buckskin Boys.

The year is 1970. The Apollo 13 mission to the moon is abandoned, a Boeing 747 makes its first commercial passenger trip to London, Brazil wins their third world cup with Pele as the captain and on the 10th April 1970 Paul McCartney announces that the Beatles has disbanded.

I’ve been trying to teach myself acoustic guitar for the past couple of years and am finding it very difficult. Add on to that the fact that I can’t sing – you will clear a room very quickly if I try to sing, even the dogs howl – and you don’t have a recipe for success. In saying all that, I keep trying and I try to teach myself finger-style guitar. The internet is a huge resource for people like me. When I was searching a couple of years ago, I came across a guy called Tommy Emmanuel. When I saw him on YouTube, I was blown away. What he could do with an acoustic guitar was physically impossible, yet he did it.

Back when I was just 16, "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel was released in February 1970. This album is shrouded in rock n' roll mythology with legendary tales of inspiration, innovation and separation. The single, Bridge.., was released a month earlier, in January 1970.
In November 2011, BBC1 aired a programme called “Simon & Garfunkel: the Harmony Game” which told the story behind Simon and Garfunkel's last studio album. In this article, I am including all tracks from the album in various concerts. Enjoy.

Yves Saint Laurent is the top earning celeb of 2009
The fashion designer beats Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley to the number one spot in the rich list with $350m of posthumous wealth according to Forbes 2009 rankings.
The late fashion designer, Yves Saint Laurent, earned $350m in 2009 thanks to the sale of his estate.

Top-earning dead celebrities of 2009 has been published by Forbes. This year, the 13 top earning dead celebrities grossed a combined total of $886 million, an astonishing figure compared to $194 million in 2008 and $232 million in 2007.
The top 3 this year are a bit unusual. Yves Saint Laurent tops the list at $350 million, when the French fashion icon's possessions were sold this February. Broadway legends Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein took the second place with $235 million in combined earnings as the rights to the music they wrote were sold. Michael Jackson, not surprisingly, was the number 3 in the list.
