At the moment (5th August 2004)
they are crossing from Perth to Melbourne by car.
It is now 12th August 2004
& I have just spoken to Brian on the phone. They arrived safely in Melbourne and are now in Ballarat (110km from Melbourne). The car just about made it & broke down (I think it overheated because a hose burst), but they got it fixed.
On 20th August,
I got an email Brian. They are in Melbourne, after spending some time in Belarat. Brian has a job as an accountant with a firm who own a chain of cinemas. They have an apartment. He calls it a dump! He saw the Dubs match on TV & you don`t really want to hear his comments.
They have driven through Western Australia to South Australia & are in Victoria at the moment. I don`t know if they took a detour to look at Ayers Rock. But no doubt we`ll be told in a future report.
It`s now late August
& I got a few emails from Brian & Natasha. Brian started work as a accountant & is doing some labouring jobs on Saturdays. Natasha is working in a large multi national telecommunications company for a 3 month contract. They are still living in their `dump`, but as they say, it`s their dump & it`s growing on them. So maybe it`s not too bad.
They have started to upload some pictures onto the internet, so keep checking out the link towards the end of this page.
It`s now 26th October 2004. There is a new news report on Brian & natasha News 26th October 2004 & there are also 215 photos to view on Click Here
You will read in their reports a mention of Shark Bay. Below is a paragraph on it
SHARK BAY
Check out these Links for Shark Bay

Shark Bay, Heritage....
The Dolphins of Monkey Mia Research Foundation - Australia....
Shark Bay is one of only 14 places on the planet that meets ALL four natural criteria for World Heritage listings. Those criterias include outstanding examples of the earth`s evolution, biological and ecological processes, incredible natural beauty and significant natural habitats for animal and plant species.
The bay has the largest area of seagrass species in one place, and supports a rich aquatic life of dolphins, dugongs, sea snakes, turtles and whales.
They have also just driven though Nullarbor Plains. Here is a paragraph on it
NULLARBOR PLAIN. Nullabor means `no trees`.
- See here for links to some interesting web sites on Nullabor
This sparsely populated slice of southwestern Australia is extremely dry with very little surface water and very few people, It can be crossed by the using the Eyre Highway, named after the famed explorer Edward John Eyre, who was the first person to survive an East-West crossing of Australia in the mid-1800s.
Along the southern coastline on the Great Australian Bight, (Bight: a bend or curve in the shoreline) the local terrain is unparalleled. Enormous stretches of pure white sand are found in the Bilbunya Dunes and the Baxter Cliffs along the Bight are absolutely stunning.
They have also just passed through the Darling Range & are near the Australian Alps at the moment. Here is a paragraph on them:
DARLING/MURRAY RIVER SYSTEM

The Murray rises in the Australian Alps and flows 1,200 miles (1,930 km) to the Indian Ocean near Adelaide. It`s the longest river in Australia and is a vital source of irrigation for the country`s major agricultural industries.
